Rick Shrader‘s Review:

Chambers, well-known today for My Utmost For His Highest, first wrote this book in 1958.  It reads very much like Torrey’s book in that it is more of a straight-forward approach to the biblical teaching on prayer with a strong emphasis on the necessity for holy living if one is to pray effectively.  He writes, “We generally look upon prayer as a means of getting things for ourselves, whereas the biblical idea of prayer is that God’s holiness, purpose, and wise order may be brought about.  Our ordinary views of prayer are not found in the New Testament.”
