This book is a publication from Focus on the Family as part of their Marriage Series. Gary Smalley and Greg Smalley (Vice President, Family Ministries) wrote the Forward. The book is a workbook on marriage written by various contributors from Focus on the Family. I was interested in the book (only 68 pages of text) because I am interested in marriage as a biblical covenant. The book bases a biblical marriage covenant on God’s marriage to Israel seen primarily from Genesis 17; Ezekiel 16; Hosea 2; Matthew 19; and Revelation 19. There is a mixture of Christ’s marriage to the church as well (without a proper differentiation between the two), but this does not detract from the covenant idea. The booklet properly advocates marriage as a covenant before (including) God and made as a life-long commitment. It is good in all of those details. The authors do not deal with divorce or remarriage.
