“On the issue of abortion, orthodox Christians hold to the commandment, ‘Thou shalt not kill.’ This is an absolute, from which we infer the principle of the sanctity of life. We then can make use of scientific evidence in showing that the fetus is a living, feeling, even thinking human organism. That human beings of whatever age or stage of development ought not to be killed simply because they are unwanted is a transcendent concept. Social expediency or human convenience can have no bearing on the absolute moral issues that are at stake.”
