Rick Shrader‘s Review:
This is a 2011 book by the pastors of Grace Community Church, John MacArthur, pastor. It is a defense of their Calvinistic position in evangelism. It is divided into four sections: The theology of evangelism; Evangelism from the pulpit; Evangelism in practice; Evangelism in the church. MacArthur writes four chapters in which he defends his Calvinism. One other chapter, written by Kurt Gebhards, takes issue with “the sinner’s prayer” and so-called “easy believism.” In it he relates the typical description: “However, in most sinners’ prayer encounters, the emphasis is placed almost exclusively on the person’s response, rather than on the irresistible grace of God. This imbalance misses an opportunity to revel in Jesus Christ the Savior.” This is only typical in the chapters of the book. MacArthur writes, “They [apostles] knew that salvation is a sovereign work of God. Their role was to preach truth; the Holy Spirit would apply it individually to the hearts of His elect.”
