Rick Shrader‘s Review:
Paul Weaver is an Associate Professor at Dallas Seminary. He wrote this short biography while Ryrie was still alive including many personal interviews. It is an easy read but very up to date on current subjects important to today e.g., progressive dispensationalism and related hermeneutics. Weaver covers Ryrie’s early life (The Man) and his early ministry (His Ministry) including various teaching positions. Most of the book is taken up with Ryrie’s influence on theological subjects focusing primarily on his dispensationalism. In addition to well-known books and writing, Weaver includes Ryrie’s comments on Progressive Dispensationalism’s complementary hermeneutics, the throne of David, the New Covenant, Lordship salvation, and his emphasis on God’s glory as the overriding theme of Scripture. Most of these comments were taken from Ryrie’s books on theology and dispensationalism or from his Study Bible. This is a book of fewer than 100 pages but concise and informative. It is worth the small amount of money and time.
