Rick Shrader‘s Review:

This 2004 book (now over 20 years old) is a debate between Dave Hunt (non-Calvinist) and James White (5-point Calvinist). The sub-title is: “five points, two views.” Though some would not consider neither Hunt nor White as the best representatives of these views, I found their point and counter-point to be very informative. Taking the non-Calvinistic view myself, I learned a lot from James White’s position as a hyper-Calvinist. Their views can briefly be seen in their response to unconditional election. White says, “In the final analysis, I have peace with God because God in eternity past chose this undeserving sinner and placed His grace and love upon me. There could be no other consistent, biblical, and God-glorifying answer. This is sovereign freedom, divine grace, and it leads inexorably to the truth of unconditional election” (p. 95). Hunt writes, “Salvation is promised to all , contingent upon individual faith. Never is there a hint of God predestining certain ones to heaven, sovereignly regenerating and irresistibly causing them to believe the gospel while withholding that grace from others. If that were the meaning of Acts 13:48, it would contradict all of Scripture” (p. 104).
